Part-time faculty benefit eligibility (Medical, Dental/Vision and FSAs only)

Part-time faculty will have taught at least 6 units (6 units = 19.98 hours) for two consecutive semesters and be teaching at least 6 units in the third semester. The Plan requires that at least a 6-unit course load be maintained in every semester to remain benefits eligible. Summer teaching is not counted towards eligibility, fall and spring semesters only.


Part-time staff benefit eligibility (Medical, Dental/Vision and FSAs only)

Part-time staff employed as a 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent are benefits eligible. Part-time eligibility on the Westchester campus is 20 hours worked per week, while eligibility at the Law School is 17.5 hours worked per week.


Part-time faculty and staff members are eligible to participate in the retirement plan immediately and may join the plan as soon as administratively feasible, but with no University match. The matching contributions will apply only after one year of service and upon completing 1,000 hours (A "year of service" is defined as 12 consecutive-month period during which you have at least 1,000 hours of service).
