Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a federal program under which employees of a qualifying institution can obtain forgiveness of their federal student loans following 120 qualifying payments. You can find more about the PSLF program on the Office of the U.S. Department of Education website here.
LMU is a qualifying employer for PSLF. To track your progress towards PSLF and to apply for forgiveness, you must certify your employment. LMU HR can assist you with verifying your employment. Employment certification should be completed yearly.
To certify your employment:
- Access the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Form with the PSLF Help Tool here
- Complete Sections 1-3 of the PSLF Employment Certification Form
- LMU is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3)
- LMU’s EIN is: 95-1643334
- LMU’s employer address is: 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045
- When you select completion of the form by e-signature, you will be prompted to input your employer’s email address. Please enter hr@lmu.edu here. A member of the Human Resources Records Team will complete and return it electronically on your behalf.
If you are a former employee of LMU, you can still request certification of your employment during your time here by following the steps above.
You can find more useful information about loan forgiveness on LMU’s Financial Aid website.
