Overview of Part-Time Faculty and Staff Benefits
Faculty
Part-time faculty must teach a minimum of 6 units in the fall or spring semester (summer sessions are not included) to qualify for LMU's part-time group health benefit plans - Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA), Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA). To maintain eligibility, a course load of at least 6 units is required each semester. Part-time faculty who are enrolled in the benefit plans during any break between semesters will retain coverage until the review of the new eligibility period. Those who retain coverage must pay the employee premium portion.

Retirement Plan
Part-time faculty and staff members are eligible to participate in the retirement plan immediately and may join the plan as soon as administratively feasible, but with no University match. The matching contributions will apply only after one year of service and upon completing 1,000 hours (A "year of service" is defined as 12 consecutive-month period during which you have at least 1,000 hours of service).
