In response to the devastating wildfires that occurred in January 2025, Human Resources has implemented new initiatives to address catastrophic emergencies.
PAID ADMIN EMERGENCY TIME OFF
The university recognized the challenges our faculty and staff faced due to the wildfires. We understand that you may need time off to tend to personal matters. To support you, we are offering Paid Administrative Emergency Time Off, which can be used for up to a maximum of 10 days without having to use your accrued vacation or sick leave. If you are interested or would like more details, please email emergencyfund@lmu.edu.
DONATE VACATION TIME – EMERGENCY
Staff can donate unused, accrued vacation time to help fund the emergency pool for LMU faculty and staff affected by the fires. For instructions on how to donate time through Workday, please refer to the Request Vacation Donation – Emergency reference guide.
FACULTY AND STAFF EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND
The LMU Faculty and Staff Emergency Response Fund offers grants of up to $1000 to support those impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires. For more information or to request a grant, please send an email to emergencyfund@lmu.edu; the form should also be returned to this email address.
As emergencies happen, we remain committed to supporting our community through challenging times.
