Ani Shabazian, Ed.M, Ph.D.
Ani earned her B.A. from UCLA where she majored in Psychology and History and minored in Applied Developmental Psychology. She went on to pursue a master's degree in Human Developmental Psychology from Harvard University. Ani then returned to UCLA to obtain an MA/Ph.D. in Urban Schooling from UCLA's Department of Education. Prior to LMU, Ani served as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Family School, and then as the Executive Director of the UCLA Infant Development Program and the Academic Administrator of the UCLA Applied Developmental Psychology Program. Ani is the recipient of the UCLA Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award as well as the ASLMU Outstanding Professor Crimson and Blue Award. Currently, Ani holds a dual appointment at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), serving as an Associate Professor in the LMU School of Education and as the Director of the Children's Center since 2008. Ani's research interests focus on best practices in caring for children raised in institutional settings. She feels truly privileged to be working with a University that is devoted to advocating for the causes of social justice in the realm of children's development and education.
