2003 - LMU wins the EPA Green Power Leadership Award, sponsored by the Department of Energy, for demonstrating environmental stewardship.
2007 - Recipient of the California Interfaith Power & Light Energy Oscar for Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency.
2012 - LMU officially earned a Silver rating on our Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) assessment, a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to gauge relative progress toward sustainability.
2013 - Sodexo's commitment to sustainability has been recognized with three awards: Sector Leader 2013, Gold Class 2013, and Sector Mover 2013 in RobecoSAM's Sustainability Yearbook 2013, released at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland earlier this year.
2015 - Winner of Campus Conservation Nationals, a nationwide competition for all colleges to reduce energy consumption and mitigate impacts of climate change by promoting a energy usage competition in residence halls.
2015 - LMU won the LADWP Community Impact Award for the north housing landscaping project. Water usage went down from 10% last year due to the removal of 27,000 square feet of turf in the North housing area and Hannon field being used as a construction area. It was replaced with drought tolerant plants and permeable decomposed granite walkways.
2015 - LMU ranked 1st place in RecycleMania Per Capita Classic measuring total pounds recycled per person on campus. We also places 1st in all subcategories, competing against over 300 universities and colleges. LMU became the first school to outright win 4 out of the 7 RecycleMania Sub-Divisions. We were named #1 campus in North America for recycling paper, cardboard, plastic, bottles, and cans.
2015 - The Princeton Review surveyed 2,000 colleges and only 353 were selected for 2015 Green College Guide, including LMU.
