Improperly Addressed Packages

Improperly addressed mail and packages may be delayed. Items with incomplete or unidentifiable recipient information will be categorized as “To Be Determined” (TBD) and held separately by the Distribution Center.

TBD packages are retained for 30 days. If unclaimed within that period, they may be disposed of or donated in accordance with university policy.

Workday: Default Shipping Address

When placing orders through Workday, a default shipping address is automatically generated as a placeholder. It is important to update this address to reflect your department’s correct delivery location before finalizing your order.

Failure to update the shipping address may result in delivery delays or misrouted packages.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

  • To track a package, use the tracking number provided by the carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS) and enter it on the carrier’s official website.

For packages that have already entered the campus distribution system, please use SCLogic Intra Package Tracking available at this link.

  • No. The Distribution Center does not accept deliveries from online grocery or food delivery services.

Orders placed through services such as Instacart, Amazon Fresh, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or similar platforms must be coordinated for direct delivery to the recipient. The Distribution Center will refuse all deliveries from these services.

  • The Distribution Center does not have freezer storage and cannot guarantee refrigeration for items marked as perishable.

If you are expecting a temperature-sensitive delivery, please contact the Distribution Center in advance to coordinate expedited handling and delivery.

Receiving Packages and Mail

  • The Distribution Center manages all incoming packages and mail delivered by the United States Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS), FedEx, Amazon, and various other carriers.

For UPS, FedEx, and Amazon, delivery notifications are generated when the package arrives at LMU.
For USPS, however, delivery notifications are sent when the package arrives at the local post office, not when it reaches LMU. As a result, USPS packages may experience delays of up to two business days between notification and actual delivery.

All incoming items are received at the Distribution Center in University Hall, Parking Level P2. Upon arrival, packages are scanned into our internal manifest, organized by mail stop and delivery point. They are then placed in temporary storage and then routed for campus delivery.

Delivery times vary depending on overall package volume and the time of receipt. While most packages are delivered the same day they are received, it may take up to one business day in some cases.

  • A Mail Stop Number, or more commonly a MS Number, is a unique identifying number for a corresponding mail stop. Some offices do not have a mail stop number but instead a Suite (STE) Number. However, they operate much in the same fashion.

Please note, not every office has a Ship-To Location, be it a mail stop or a suite number. For instructions on finding your mail stop or suite number, please consult the following question.

  • All Mail Stop (MS) and Suite (STE) Numbers can be located on Workday by following these steps:

    1. Open and log into Workday
    2. In the search bar, search for “Data Audit – Locations.” It should be underneath the section titled "Tasks and Reports.”
    3. Click on “Data Audit – Locations.” A small window will open.
    4. In this window, there will several options for “Location Usages for Location.” Keep “Ship-To.” Delete the rest of the options. Then click on “OK.”
    5. A list of all Mail Stop and Suite will be listed. Please select the relevant MS or STE Number.

If you cannot locate your Mail Stop or Suite number in this list, please contact the Distribution Center.

  • If you believe a package is missing, please follow these steps:

    1. Check with your Senior Administrative Coordinator to confirm whether the package has recently been delivered to your department.

    2. Locate the tracking number associated with the package.

    3. Contact the Distribution Center and provide the tracking number so that staff may search for the package in the delivery database.

Promptly providing the tracking number will help expedite the search process.

  • If a package arrives unnamed and without a Mail Stop or Suite Number, it will be logged into the To Be Determined (TBD) section by the Distribution Center.

If you are attempting to locate a package with missing information, please first identify the tracking number and then contact the Distribution Center for further assistance.

When a package is received with only a name, the Distribution Center will attempt to identify the recipient using internal databases and the LMU online directory. Please ensure that your directory information is accurate and up to date.

  • When arranging for large freight shipments to the Distribution Center, please follow the steps below:

    1. Notify the Distribution Center in advance by emailing the DC Help Desk at dchd@lmu.edu.

    2. Include the following details in your email:
      a. Expected date and time of delivery
      b. Quantity, size, and contents of the shipment
      c. Your contact information
      d. [Optional] Preferred drop-off location

Important: The Distribution Center may not be able to receive oversized or excessively heavy freight shipments (>2500lbs). In such cases, you must coordinate directly with the carrier to deliver the shipment to its final destination. If a shipment exceeds the Distribution Center’s handling capacity, it will be refused upon arrival, which may result in additional shipping and handling fees.

Outbound Packages and Mail

  • Each department is responsible for properly addressing and labeling all forwarded mail. Ensure that the old address information is clearly crossed out.

For mail being sent to an off-campus location, clearly write “Forward” on the envelope and place it in your designated outgoing mailbox.

For intracampus mail, use an interdepartmental envelope and ensure it is labeled accurately with the recipient's name, department, and Mail Stop.

  • To ship a package on behalf of your department, please follow the steps below:

    1. Complete a Shipping Request Form. The form is available here. Please include all necessary information, including Cost Center name and number.

    2. Prepare your package. Securely package the item and seal it with tape.

    3. Attach the Shipping Request Form. Affix the completed form to the package using a method that allows it to be removed easily. Please note that the form will be detached during processing, so it should not be permanently attached.

    4. Submit the package. Bring the package to the Distribution Center, the Campus Mail Center, or place it with your department’s outgoing mail at your designated mail stop.

    5. Observe the cutoff time. Packages received before 2:30 PM will be processed the same day. Packages received after 2:30 PM will be processed the following business day.

    6. Confirmation. Once your package has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email.

  • You can locate your cost center, program, grant, or gift number in Workday by following these steps:

    1. Log in to Workday using your LMU credentials.

    2. In the search bar, type “Data Audit.”

    3. Under the “Tasks and Reports” section, select the appropriate Data Audit report.

    4. For easier navigation and reference, consider exporting the results to Excel.

If you require additional assistance, please contact your department’s budget manager or the Controller’s Office.

  • The Distribution Center has a very limited supply of shipping materials available. Departments are expected to provide their own materials, particularly when preparing large or high-volume shipments.

  • All personal shipments must be processed in person at the Campus Mail Center.

Accepted forms of payment include card and flexi. All packages must be securely packaged and properly sealed prior to drop-off. Packaging services are not available on site.
