Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being

Mental Health and Emotional wellbeing comprises of your emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Mental Health and Emotional wellbeing also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. The National Institutes of Health describes mental/emotional wellbeing as “the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and difficult times” (NIH, 2018). The resources listed in this section are designed to optimize your mental health and emotional status, which can positively impact your overall wellbeing.

When you are connected to a counselor, a session is defined as either a live session (chat, phone, video) or a week of back-and-forth messages (exceeding 500 words) exchanged with your therapist. Live sessions with your therapist will render between 30 and 60 minutes based on your individual needs. We encourage you to discuss your preferences with your therapist. Please contact us at MyWellbeing@lmu.edu for questions.

  • Mindfulness helps you learn to stay with difficult feelings without analyzing, suppressing, or encouraging them. When you allow yourself to feel and acknowledge your worries, irritations, painful memories, and other difficult thoughts and emotions, this often helps them dissipate. Learn more.
