Campus Policies

A few policies to keep in mind when visiting LMU.

  • Cooking is permitted only in the apartments. The only approved cooking appliances in residence halls are hot pots, coffee pots, and hot-air popcorn poppers.

  • For more information about LMU's current COVID-19 protocols, please visit https://www.lmu.edu/together/#protocols

  • All persons under the age of 18 are expected to be inside their residence hall by 10 p.m. each night. Additionally, all persons, regardless of age, are not permitted to linger outside campus buildings.

  • Illegal drugs are never allowed on LMU campuses. Prescription drugs are to be consumed under the regulations in which they were prescribed.

Possession and consumption of alcohol is permitted only by those of legal age (21) inside their private residence. Persons who consume alcohol are discouraged from displaying alcohol-related behavior that is abusive to oneself or others. All persons are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner; drunkenness and public intoxication are unacceptable.

  • Furniture may not be removed, reconfigured, changed, or damaged anywhere on campus. All rooms and buildings are inspected before the arrival of a conference group, and again after their departure. Damage fees will be assessed and charged as necessary.

  • LMU is not responsible for lost items. You may contact Public Safety to inquire about lost or found items. Public Safety is located in the Foley Annex or you may call them at 310-338-2893.

  • Animals are not permitted on campus, with the exception of service animals.

  • No one is allowed on any roofs, balconies, trellises, or ledges at any time, for safety reasons.

  • Recycling containers are placed on each floor of the residence halls, and many areas around campus. Please do not put non-recyclable products in these containers. All non-recyclable products should be placed in trash cans. Each residence hall has trash rooms and trash chutes, usually labeled ‘Vestibule.’ Please empty your trash there.

  • Smoking is only permitted outside buildings, at least 25 feet from all doors and windows of all campus buildings, by those persons of legal age (21). This policy applies to electronic cigarettes as well.

  • Minors under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult representative/counselor/parent at all times.

  • Quiet hours are enforced in all residence halls from 8 p.m.-8 a.m., Sunday-Thursday and 10 p.m.-8 a.m., Friday-Saturday. Noise from one's room/apartment should not be audible in the hallways or other people's rooms/apartments.
