The Alternative Transportation Incentive Program’s (ATIP) intention is to reduce the number of vehicles on the road and on campus while also reducing carbon emissions along with other toxic byproducts created by fuel dependent vehicles. The Parking and Transportation Department acknowledges that there may be circumstances in which individuals who typically commute using alternate forms of transportation are required to drive a vehicle and park on campus. Parking and Transportation shall provide limited free parking each semester/term to community members who utilize ATIP and therefore pledge not to commute on a regular basis as a driver of a single occupancy vehicle (SOV).
Those who qualify and register with ATIP shall be issued a coupon code valid for (5) five complimentary days of parking during the Fall and Spring semesters (see semester dates for availability). (3) Three days of complimentary parking will be issued during summer term (both sessions I and II). Coupon codes may be redeemed at any Pay Station or at the Parking Office during business hours.
In order to receive a complementary ATIP coupon code, the following criteria must be met:
- Be a current LMU community member in good standing
- Community members include the following: Faculty, Staff, Student or affiliate
- Be a current community member with an active One Card
- Have not purchased a parking permit as an SOV
- Live off-campus
- Must agree to terms and conditions set forth on the ATIP Consent Form
Individuals may request a coupon code by completing the ATIP consent form in person at the Parking & Transportation Office or online at www.lmu.edu/parking. Once the ATIP Consent Form has been processed, a confirmation e-mail will be sent with the ATIP coupon code and instructions for coupon code use. Participation in ATIP requires reenrollment each semester.
Codes issued through ATIP will not be available for purchase or extension. Number of available uses per code each semester will be dependent on date of induction. A sliding scale shall determine the number of uses each code contains. Each month past the start of the ATIP period shall count as a single day of parking removed from the code. The date of application (not the confirmation date) will determine the number of uses per code. The maximum number of days available per code is (5) five and the minimum is (1) one. For example:
- Application for fall is received on August 29th; a code with (5) five days of parking is issued.
- Application for spring is received on February 16th; a code with (4) four days of parking is issued.
Unused codes will expire at the end of the semester dates below and will not rollover into the following semester or term.
- Fall – August 15st through January 15th
- Spring – January 15st through May 31st
- Summer – May 1st through August 15th
Participation in ATIP does not replace or excuse any driver of knowing and complying with the University’s Rules and Regulations. All vehicle operators are expected to follow and adhere to all local, state and federal regulations. ATIP participants who drive and park on campus shall be treated as any other member of the LMU community.
Misuse or the misappropriation of validation codes constitutes grounds for the immediate revocation of ATIP privileges, with the possible suspension/revocation of general parking privileges on LMU property. The Department of Parking and Transportation has the right to suspend or revoke an individual’s participation in ATIP for the violation or the suspected violation of any of the criteria listed in this document. The Director of Parking and Transportation or the Assoc. Vice President of Administration may amend or change this document without notice.
