Alternative Transportation Incentive Program

Philosophy

The Alternative Transportation Incentive Program’s (ATIP) intention is to reduce the number of vehicles on the road and on campus while also reducing carbon emissions along with other toxic byproducts created by fuel dependent vehicles. The Department of Parking and Transportation acknowledges that there may be circumstances in which individuals who typically commute using alternate forms of transportation are required to drive a vehicle and park on-campus. Parking and Transportation shall provide limited free parking each semester/term to community members who utilize ATIP and therefore pledge not to commute on a regular basis as a driver of a single occupancy vehicle (SOV).

General

Students, Faculty, Staff and Affiliates at the Westchester Campus who qualify and register with ATIP shall be issued a coupon code valid for five complimentary days of parking during the Fall and Spring Semesters. During the Summer Sessions (I and II), three days of complimentary parking will be issued. Coupon codes may be redeemed at any Pay Station or at the Parking Office during business hours. Participants may not park in Lot I – Xavier.

Eligibility

In order to receive a complementary ATIP coupon code, the following criteria must be met:

  • Current LMU community member (Student, Faculty, Staff and Affiliate)
  • Have an active One Card
  • Be in good standing with the University
  • Have not purchased a parking permit as a SOV
  • Live off-campus

Enrollment Process

To apply, please complete the ATIP Consent Form. You may email or drop off the form at the Parking Office during business hours 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday. If sending via email to parking@lmu.edu, please use the subject line “ATIP Consent Form.”

Once the ATIP Consent Form has been processed, a confirmation email will be sent with the ATIP Coupon Code and instructions for use.

Participation in ATIP requires reenrollment each semester.

Code Details

Codes issued through ATIP will not be available for purchase or extension. Number of available uses per code per each semester will be dependent on the date of induction. A sliding scale shall determine the number of uses each code contains. Each month past the start of the ATIP period shall count as a single day of parking removed from the code. The date of application (not the confirmation date) will determine the number of uses per code. The maximum number of days available per code is five and the minimum is one. Unused codes will expire at the end of the semester dates below and will not rollover into the following semester or term.

Semester Dates

  • Fall – August 15 through January 15
  • Spring – January 1 through May 31
  • Summer – May 1 through August 15
