On March 26th, 2014 Loyola Marymount University hosted a sustainability tour for a second grade class from Playa Vista Elementary School. Twenty-four children were treated to a tour of the LEED Gold rated Green building of the William H. Hannon Library, the Lions Community Garden, and the Drollinger Recycle Center. The exciting tour concluded with a terrific sustainable Sodexo catered picnic style lunch on Lawton plaza in front of the Library. This tour would not have been possible with out the help of The Sustainability Office Staff, Facilities Administration, Sustainability Office student staff member Haley Reed, Drollinger Recycle Center staff, Sodexo, Library Staff, Public Safety, Auxiliary Management & Buisness Affairs, The Family of Schools, Project Manager Jeff Zara, and Playa Vista teacher Kalani Killacky. This event provided a true live and learn experience for the young minds in our neighboring elementary school. The office of sustainability looks forward to providing such engaging experiences for the future.
